A year ago, I committed to writing something. Whether that was each week or each month — just get something from my head out onto a virtual page and share it.
Back in October 2021, I had idea after idea. And writing was the medium I felt made the most sense.
It’s been a great anchor to remain consistent amidst an ever-changing lifestyle.
I find that “creative” endeavours such as these fluctuate in intensity. Sometimes I'm more interested in visual arts, such as photography, and sometimes I'm more interested in a concise letter.
This project has fulfilled its purpose. It has been a stimulus for me to reflect and slow down. To design supporting graphics. To have conversations that otherwise may have never happened. To practise writing and communicating consistently.
Thanks for sticking around this long, and continuing to read what I’ve written.
I hope that something from the past year has resonated with you. And if you are a recent subscriber, here are some of my personal favourites:
This endeavour has provided me with a solid foundation. Something to schedule for the month in an effort to relax and think differently. I’ve been able to experiment with different methods, and one that’s stuck with me more has been the Prospettiva series.
The blend of the visual medium of photography with accompanying text has struck a chord and it’s something I want to continue next year. I also just want to get back into photographing more. The whole point of these letter is to document my perspective, and I feel that’s best illustrated when imagery is supplied.
And with that, maybe you enjoy other people’s perspectives too. Here’s a small list of newsletters that I like to keep myself occupied with:
Long pieces exploring interesting topics – if you want to really dive into something, this is that.
I collaborated with
in my last letter, and enjoy everything he’s putting out. Concise and to the point with lovely illustrations. From a super-fan of the All-In podcast, Sean writes a weekly recap of the 2-3 hour podcast. It covers a wide range of topics, mostly the big things happening around the world.
I look forward to sharing more images with you all and writing about them. Stay tuned for those future letters.
That thing you’ve been thinking about—you should start it. Gotta know whether it lives up to your mind’s reality.
Stay inspired,
Josh
